He can view other pdf files in other applications. Can you suggest anything for us to check?
2.Is there a reason we keep getting the error 'Warning - Page Expired'? I notice it when I've been in the reports and I either have to click refresh or keep clicking the back arrow.
3.I have received the following messages from two users. What is the problem?

HR - Employee Payroll Summary by Orgn

I was hoping the reports would be grouped together, but they remained in the same position as before.
We want to group the reports together so it looks similar to this:

Finance - Account Hierarchy Report
HR - Labor Distribution
HR - Employee Payroll

Browser Help

The system will let you initially log in and go to the listing of viewable reports, but once you click the pdf icon it kicks you out to the login screen. He can view other pdf files in other applications. Can you suggest anything for us to check?

Have him clear the cache in his browser and try again. This normally will resolve the problem.

2. Is there a reason we keep getting the error 'Warning - Page Expired'? I notice it when I've been in the reports and I either have to click refresh or keep clicking the back arrow.

The reason you keep getting that message is because by default, Internet Explorer (IE) is set to create this warning message as a security precaution. To eliminate this message, in IE go to Tools -> Internet Options. Under the Advanced tab, deselect, "Do not save encrypted pages to disk." You shouldn't receive the IE warning message anymore.

3. I have received the following messages from two users. What is the problem?
/home/eprint/cgi-bin/../prod/repository/finance/config/.xml not found, not readable, or not writable at /home/eprint/cgi-bin/../code/Pinnacle/UIGetreport.pm line 684.Dept: Student Fin. Planning

This error can be caused by a couple of things -- either the browser is not clearing the cache, or they are using the browser BACK button when they should be using the e~Print navigation bar. The only time that the browser BACK button should be used is to get back from reading a pdf report from within the browser. Have them clear the cache.

4. I was wondering is there a way to open more than one screen and compare the reports from different repository at the same time?

You can open e~Print in another browser window and compare the reports. This means that you would be logged in twice.

5. When a person is in a report in e~Print and they click the back button, they get: “Page has expired.” If they click the back button again, it goes back to the e~Print menu. Any suggestions? Should they reload Adobe Acrobat Reader? It works fine for me.

If a user is using Internet Explorer (IE), it is better to open Adobe outside of the browser. Also, if the user is using https to access the reports, the problem may be because of a security precaution in IE relating to encrypted pages. To eliminate this message, try this: In IE go to Tools -> Internet Options. Under the Advanced tab, de-select "Do not save encrypted pages to disk". Once this option is no longer selected, the warning message should go away.

6. Are you aware of any problems with printing e~Print reports from Mozilla? We have had a report of a user who says he used to be able to print from Mozilla, but who no longer can. I tried to print from Mozilla and have been unable to get a printout. (No errors; just doesn't come through.) The user is accessing e~Print from IE right now, but wants to return to his normal use of Mozilla.

Yes, there is a problem with Adobe 6.0 and Netscape (Mozilla). It seems that Adobe 6.0 utilizes a postscript printer driver (ours defaults to PCL). When opening an e~Print report via Netscape 7, the pdf file opens within Netscape (as opposed to opening Adobe in its own window). The combination of Adobe over Netscape forces the requirement of postscipt when printing. We found that if we install a postscript driver for the printers in-use, all of e~Print pdfs print successfully. Here is a link to Adobe's site that may help: http://www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html Adobe 5.0 works fine with IE and Netscape. There is no big improvement to Reader 6.0 vs 5.0 so you don't lose anything.

7. Our Apple users are using SAFARI to access e~Print because of a problem with Internet Explorer. To you know of any compatibility or encryption problems using this browser? Should it work with the 128-bit encryption?

According to the Safari web site, the latest version handles 128-bit encryption fine. Almost all browsers today support 128-bit encryption. The reason that Mac/IE has problems may be due to the fact that they stopped development on it and didn't fix the problem before they did so. Safari is the default browser for Mac's so I imagine they did a better job with the SSL 3 support then what Microsoft did with their Mac version of IE :) By the way, the Mac version of Netscape also works fine with the 128-bit encryption certificates.

8. We are having problems printing reports when using Netscape 7.1. The reports display correctly, but when we click the print button, nothing happens. Any ideas?

This is a known issue with Netscape and Adobe. Adobe's website has a section about printing problems (http://www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html). It seems that Adobe 6 uses a postscript printer driver. When opening an e~Print report via Netscape 7.x, the pdf file opens within Netscape (as opposed to opening Adobe in its own window). The combination of Adobe over Netscape forces the requirement of postscript when printing. We found that if we install a postscript driver for the printers in use, your e~Print pdf files print successfully.

9. We are experiencing a repetitive problem. When users try to download a report, it brings up the login screen instead of the data.

It sounds like they losing their login session. Make sure their browsers are set to accept cookies. Also make sure their "Privacy Settings" are not too high. Anything higher than "Medium" may cause problems such as the one you are describing.

10. I am getting the following message:"File does not begin with '%pdf-" when trying to access the report from E-mail URL.

If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) as your default browser, be sure to configure Adobe Reader to open outside of the browser. There are known problems with the Adobe/IE plug-in that occasionally causes a dynamically built pdf to not open correctly.

11. An end-user with Windows and Internet Explorer said she has been getting this message since last week whenever she tries to log in. The user account seems to be okay. /home/eprint/cgi-bin/../prod/repository/frs/config/.xml not found, not readable, or not writable at /home/eprint/cgi-bin/../code/Pinnacle/UIGetreport.pm line 684.

This message could be caused by a couple of things. First, cache is not being cleared in the browser. Clear cache and see is the message still displays. Second, the user is using the browser BACK button instead of the navigation bar within e~Print. If this is the case, use the navigation bar and the message should stop appearing.

12. Does e~Print support Mac users? If so, which Mac OS and which browsers?

Mac users shouldn't have any problems accessing e~Print. However there are known problems with Mac's Internet Explorer (IE) SSL implementation and since Microsoft stopped development on it, the issues will probably not get fixed. With that said, I highly recommend that Mac users DO NOT use IE. There have been no problems reported with Mac's Netscape browser and e~Print. Also, I have heard there are users running Safari, Mac's default browser, and no problems have been reported with it.

1. I'm trying to set up the CSV on a report and it fails to load the whole report into Excel. It stops at line 65,536. We will be adding VBS to this report, but if anyone has access to the whole report they wouldn't be able to view the entire report in Excel. Is there a way around this problem?

The 65,536 line is the limit Excel can accept. The only workaround would be to split the report. With VBS the number of people who can see the entire report should be limited. The main question would be, is someone who has access to all the information likely to download to Excel?

4. I had two people call with the following error:

"There are no pages for you to view on this report. If you think this is an error, contact your e~Print administrator. Otherwise, return to e~Print and select another report."

Even though a user has access to a report, there may be no data on the report for them to look at. This may occur when a report is controlled by value-based security. One month they have pages to view but next month there is no activity, so there are no pages for them to view.

There is only one copy of the report. e~Print will create a pdf file if it is needed, but it is only a temporary file.

We want to group the reports together so it looks similar to this:
Finance - Account Index Report
Finance - Account Hierarchy Report
HR - Labor Distribution
HR - Employee Payroll

Currently, the report ID orders the reports. The ID is the name that was used to create the report definition. If you wanted to group those reports together, you would have to change the names of the report IDs (report definitons).
